My impact story
Sardis Doorway has been life-changing.  When I first came into the program I was in a very bad situation.  I was living with my abusive ex and my children in a worn-down apartment in poverty,
I was depressed everyday. I couldn’t leave my home.  I had no friends and I had no support.
When I started going to Doorway, I was amazed by everything that they did and the support that they gave me ~ counseling and courses like when Love Hurts.
I was able to find the courage to leave my abusive relationship and move out on my own starting over completely.
I had the support of all the mom’s workers and the volunteers.  I finally had a community I could trust.  I started making friends within the program and all the moms were all there for different reasons and it was a safe place for all of us.
I was able to work on myself and work on healing for my kids. hey gave me the support I needed to start over. They offered parenting classes, there were hampers, they help me move.  They offered counselling and courses.
I would not have been able to do it without them.
With their help I was able to go back to school.  I started the process of looking into what I really wanted and what I wanted my life to be like.  I knew I had to make a change so I started putting in motion what my long-term goals were.  What the best things were for my family.  I started a business certificate and now I am enrolled in Marc Anthony's Academy of Cosmetology for hairdressing.
With their support I found my true calling, I've moved into very nice apartment with my two children and I have the chance to make my kid's life better.
I am truly blessed to have been a part of Sardis Doorway and I hope to come back in the future as a volunteer to help those moms the same way that they helped me.
I am forever grateful ~ my kids life and mine has changed for the better thank you everyone at Sardis Doorway.

Selina

Sharing your story is one of the bravest things that you can do. I know that it must have been hard for you, but it really helps when you finally decide to address your feelings. It is not often that you see people who can share their entire feelings, in fact, it is a rare occurrence in our society. If you ask me, you are one of the people who are starting to change the entire landscape that we are living in. I hope that you can win this battle that you are facing
